What is the primary function of the Foundation? The Southern University System Foundation exists to raise and manage private gifts to further educational excellence on all five campuses of the Southern University System. In what ways does the Foundation aim to advance the University? The Foundation endeavors to advance the missions of the universities of the System by securing financial support for each of the five campuses; bridging relationships with faculty, students, alumni, friends, corporations and other foundations interested in academic excellence; laying the groundwork for future fundraising success; and carefully managing and investing the funds. How long has the Foundation been in existence? The Southern University System Foundation was established in 1968. Who was responsible for the establishment of the System Foundation? The Louisiana Board of Regents designated the Southern University System Foundation as a private, nonprofit corporation and the primary fundraiser and manager of gifts to the University System from alumni, friends, corporations and other foundations. Why does the Foundation need private support? The Foundation generates private support to enable the universities to fulfill their own missions of excellence.
