Dear Fellow Knights and friends of Southern University at New Orleans:
Thank you for reaching out and supporting our students, faculty, and staff who have been affected by Hurricane Ida. The storm caused widespread devastation over the entire New Orleans region and has caused hardships for the SUNO community. We are so grateful to have friends such as you who are caring and compassionate. We are grateful!
While Ida affected New Orleans and SUNO, our neighboring parishes took a direct hit. Many homes were destroyed, and families were displaced. Having been through this devastation 16 years ago, we know that recovery in many parts of the state will be long and laborious. Our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow Louisianans at this time.
Many of you have reached out, asking how you can help our students and employees on the road to recovery; In response, we have established Hurricane Ida Relief Fund.
The Hurricane Ida Relief Fund could help to address some of our most urgent challenges, such as:
- Covering transportation costs for students who evacuated to return home
- Support staff and faculty with their storm-related needs
- Assisting students in financial need
- Providing technology devices for instruction such as laptops and iPads
New Orleans has always been a caring and giving city when faced with adversity. This is an opportunity for us to come together once again and help those in need. I hope you will help SUNO—and the Knights—to recover by making a gift today.
