Michael J. Jones Leadership Award

Michael J. Jones was a distinguished military graduate from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his years at Southern University, Michael was a member of the National Society of Pershing Rifles and an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He graduated from Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and obtained a Master of Science degree in Adult Education from Kansas State University.

Michael was an exceptionally bright, intelligent, and dedicated student.  He was also very active in sports and had an extreme passion for the game of golf.  Michael was popular among his peers, energetic, lots of fun, and had a warm and genuine smile. Michael was also a well decorated military officer who retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army after serving with valor and courage for more than 23 years on active duty.

To continue his legacy, we are joining with the Williams Center for Undergraduate Student Achievement by presenting the Michael J. Jones Leadership Award to young men who have exhibited superior leadership qualities. This award will provide hope and will support the dreams of these young men.  It will also assist them in accessing educational and mentoring opportunities that will equip them with tools and skills that they can use to have a positive effect on their communities.

Make your contribution today in Michael’s honor to benefit the students of the Williams Center for Undergraduate Student Achievement!
