The Southern University Rugby program will use rugby as a tool to combat male low enrollment, retention and graduation rates at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. With the assistance of the Southern University Athletic Foundation, we have established a rugby program, which will compete as an elevated club, to address these challenges through a value based, purpose driven approach to mentorship and development. Our aim is to use rugby as a conduit to sustained academic success that will ultimately lead to increased enrollment, with higher retention and graduation rates.

As we recruit, we will target underserved communities with large populations of at-risk youth. This recently established rugby program is requesting financial support for scholarships, facilities and coach/mentor salaries. Your support will directly impact and aid in lessening the financial burden on student athletes, while offering an opportunity for the program to be adequately funded to maximize the team’s ability to compete at the highest level of collegiate rugby in the United States, making history in the process. The Director of Rugby operations and Head coach of the program is an Army veteran and his time as a Commander and Operations officer has prepared him to lead this massive endeavor.

Be a part of history and make a life changing impact on so many by donating to the Southern University Rugby program resource and scholarship fund!
