The Career Clothes Closet is an initiative that helps students attending Southern University and A&M College in looking their best in the professional world of work. As a student, it may be difficult to attain funds to purchase appropriate interviewing and business attire. The provides students with free, gently used professional clothing items for interviews, career fairs, and other professional networking events. The goal of this program is to help relieve the stress of affording professional clothing and allows students to focus on creating positive first impressions when networking. Students also receive career advice on how to dress to impress, create a winning resumé, establish their professional brand and build a wardrobe as they prepare to enter the workforce.
While the Career Clothes Closet relies primarily on donated attire, financial support and contributions enable the Career Services Center to purchase items that are in the greatest demand and to fill any existing gaps in the clothes closet inventory to ensure students have the best experience in developing their wardrobes.
