In celebration of the exhibition From the Nile to the Mississippi: King Tutankhamun and the Giovanni Amin Collection, the Southern University at New Orleans Museum of Art (SUNOMA) invites you to an unforgettable evening of culture, elegance, and celebration.

Knight on the Nile marks the first fundraising gala in SUNOMA’s history, bringing together supporters, scholars, artists, and community leaders for a night that celebrates the museum’s growing impact at Southern University at New Orleans.

Inspired by the cultural currents that connect the Nile and the Mississippi Rivers, this evening highlights SUNOMA’s commitment to presenting narratives that connect global history to the culture, creativity, and spirit of our city.

This special event will transform the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Breezeway into an elegant celebration inspired by the grandeur of ancient Egypt and the vibrant cultural traditions of New Orleans.

Proceeds from the gala directly support:

  • Student internships and museum training
  • Educational programming and community engagement
  • Future exhibitions at SUNOMA

Inspired by the Met Gala tradition, guests are invited to arrive in elegant evening wear
or creative attire inspired by the beauty, symbolism, and grandeur of ancient Egypt.
Formal attire is encouraged, and guests are welcome to interpret the theme through:

Individual Admission: $150 per guest

Table Reservation: $1,000 per table
