Under the guidance of Mrs. Henrietta Barranco, the Beta Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered on March 27, 1940 on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The five chartering members were Lysbia Day, Willie Mae Houston, Garnett Conant Cole, Girthernie Evans Lloyd and Ethel Goines.
Beta Psi Alumnae is dedicated to preserving the rich history and protecting the future of our beloved Southern University. In order to do so, we need your support in raising at least $85,000 in the name of Beta Psi Alumnae. While we are celebrating the 85th year of the Chapter chartering, we are aware of the needs of our undergrauate sorors who will receive scholarships from this fund.
