For over twenty-five years, Dr. Lewis Blair Jr., husband, father, friend, scientist, scholar, and HBCU advocate, coached and developed generations of nurse practitioners and nurse anesthetists while teaching at Southern University School of Nursing. Dr. Blair passed away peacefully and suddenly on October 30, 2022. To honor his life’s work, legacy, and commitment to producing more African American healthcare practitioners, his wife, Mrs. Tonjie Blair and his children Anrea Moses, Christopher Blair, and Andreka Lynn Howard, have established a scholarship fund in the name of Dr. Blair’s late first wife who was a career registered nurse until the time of her passing and his late son.

The Parthenia “PJ” Blair and Rodrick Deon Blair Memorial Scholarship Fund will be awarded to Southern University A&M College nursing majors who hail from Mississippi who demonstrate high scholastic achievement despite challenging upbringing.
