Gracie Perkins Legacy Fund

In 1969 Ms. Gracie Perkins and Dr. Isaac Greggs premiered a group of eight Southern University students who performed at the football game against Texas Southern. ‘Dolls’ she called them because “every little girl likes dolls”. The performance started a 53-year tradition of Fabulous Dancing Dolls.

Gracie Perkins ushered in ‘Pizzazz’ – talent, sophistication, class – a style all it’s on that stands out for it’s elegant presentation. Above all, Ms. Perkins expected these young ladies to be committed. She put a huge emphasis on academics, character, class, and showmanship – traditions that continue to this day.

This fund seeks to support outstanding members and endeavors of the Fabulous Dancing Dolls in furtherance of Ms. Gracie’s legacy and in honor of an extraordinary visionary who is the epitome of her namesake, ‘grace’.
