Mary Ann Braud Edwards and Lloyd Carroll Edwards met on the campus of Southern University in August of 1953. They both pledged while in college she Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and he Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. They got married, and at the time of Lloyd’s death in 2019, had been married for 59 years. They were avid SU football fans and attended games often and later becoming season ticket holders. Mary Ann and Lloyd credit the education they received at Southern as the foundation to provide opportunities for their three children. To date three generations have graduated from Southern University; the legacy continues.
