The SU Academic Homecoming is our opportunity to gather alumni, corporate stakeholders, and the Southern University community for an inspiring celebration of excellence. As Southern University continues to grow as a hub of innovation and impact, this inaugural event will highlight our achievements and pave the way for future generations.

  • 145th Southern University Founders DayKick off SU Academic Homecoming by honoring the vision and mission of our founders.


Saturday, March 28, 2026

  • Discover Southern University
    Join SU Academic Homecoming as we welcome over 1,500 K-12 students with interactive exhibits and activities showcasing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Business—designed to inspire the next generation of innovators.

  • Jazz & Arts on the Bluff Festival
    Relax and reconnect on the scenic Mississippi River bluffs. Enjoy an afternoon of live music, visual arts, networking, and celebration with fellow alumni and community partners. Our students and alumni from the Alvin Baptiste Jazz Institute will provide the entertainment along with special guest artists.

  • Departmental Picnics
    Revisit your college days at casual departmental picnics. Connect with classmates, faculty, and staff in a relaxed, fun-filled setting. Each college will have a picnic area for students, alumni, and stakeholders.

    Celebrate at the Presidential Reception, held at the historic Donald C. Wade House. Network with Southern University leadership, distinguished alumni, and corporate partners as we toast to our university’s future.

    Enjoy a day on the green at the Presidential Golf Classic. Network with alumni and corporate partners while supporting scholarships and university programs.

  • Chancellor’s Breakfast
    Conclude the weekend SU Academic Homecoming with the Chancellor’s Luncheon. Featuring keynote speeches and acknowledgments, this breakfast celebrates the achievements of the year and inspires us for what’s to come.
  • The Dean’s Leadership Roundtables
    Engage in strategic discussions with the Deans of each College, Faculty, Industry, and Alumni focused on advancing the College’s mission and expanding corporate partnerships and collaboration.

    • Welcome K-12 students for interactive exhibits across the campus.
  • 12:00 PM – National Academic Signing Day @ the Valdry Center
  • 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Jazz & Arts on the Bluff
    • Live music and visual arts on the scenic Mississippi River bluffs.


SUNDAY, MARCH 29

  • 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM – Honors College Day Picnic.
  • 10:45 AM – Churching with the Chancellor
    • Location: Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church.

  • Various Times – Brunching with the Chancellor (Invitation Only).
  • Various Times – Presidential Golf Tournament.
  • Various Times – Mentoring Monday
    • Alumni and students connect within various departments.
