About the Center
The Valdry Center for Philanthropy (VCP) is an academically based research center focused on philanthropic studies and nonprofit management. VCP seeks to educate the socially conscious student, volunteer, and practitioner in the emerging field of philanthropic studies, through exploring the economic, historical, and philosophical rationales for voluntary action in the local, national, and international arenas.

Completed in 2019, The Valdry Center for Philanthropy at Southern University supports the need for developing excellence in education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, through service to minority communities around the world, and become the training ground for individuals interested in exploring the field of philanthropic studies.
The Valdry Center is guided by focusing on its six strands of work and will address issues that have historically been left undiscussed in minority communities around the world. The program strands are as follows:

Auditorium Naming Opportunity – 2,150-sf $1 million – Name in perpetuity or that of someone you would like to honor
Board Room Naming Opportunity – 895-sf $350,000 – Name in perpetuity, or that of someone you would like to honor
Classroom Naming Opportunity (Two Available) – 700-sf $200,000 – Name in perpetuity, or that of someone you would like to honor
Capstone Society – $25,000 level to be paid over a five year period, we will engrave your name, or that of someone you would like to honor, on the
Capstone Society Donor Wall located in the main lobby of the Valdry Center for Philanthropy.
